{"id":129,"date":"2008-04-08T19:47:17","date_gmt":"2008-04-09T03:47:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.racingyachtmanagement.com\/blog\/?p=129"},"modified":"2008-04-12T18:16:47","modified_gmt":"2008-04-13T02:16:47","slug":"sea-survival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racingyachtmanagement.com\/blog\/sea-survival\/","title":{"rendered":"Sea Survival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.racingyachtmanagement.com\/blog\/albums\/pictures\/immersion.jpg\"><img class=\"colorbox-129\"  loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" width=\"448\" src=\"http:\/\/www.racingyachtmanagement.com\/blog\/albums\/pictures\/immersion.jpg\" height=\"288\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s class was a continuation of yesterday afternoon on Personal Survival and this evening from 7-9pm we were at the Hall of Fame outdoor swimming pool for abadon ship drill including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>treading water for 15 minutes<\/li>\n<li>swimming with immersion suits<\/li>\n<li>inflating a liferaft<\/li>\n<li>righting an upturned liferaft<\/li>\n<li>the huddle and HELP positions<\/li>\n<li>jumping from a 15 foot platform into the water with a Type 1 PFD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t as difficult as the class I took 10 years ago when I did it in full foul weather gear. We were allowed to wear shorts and tshirts so there wasn&#8217;t as much drag as last time I did the course. It was however, very useful as a refresher was needed! It was also good fun.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img class=\"colorbox-129\"  loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" width=\"448\" src=\"http:\/\/www.racingyachtmanagement.com\/blog\/albums\/pictures\/righting.jpg\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\" style=\"text-align: center\">Below is a video I took of Anne a member of my class righting the liferaft. You can see she had a little difficulty with balance as the Co2 cartridge is slippy.
