Diving in hanger cove

December 24, 2009

The sea ice and brash is in Hanger Cove pushed against the runway right over the sediment plates that needed changing out. We also needed to do some collections. I picked up 50 urchins while Terri took pictures of the sediment panels and did some other collections. The north side of the runway is very different diving from south cove as there is much more scouring by icebergs so it is not as diverse in terms of species and what there is a lot deeper. There are lots of nemertean worms along with the urchins.

  1. Hi Ash

We hope you are having a spectacular Christmas there down near the South Pole. Do Santa’s reindeer have enough range to make it all the way down there from the North Pole?

We’re thanking of you and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous and Healthy New Year.

    Love

    Betsy and Jerry

  2. Merry Christmas. Not sure what day or what time it is in your neck of the woods but we send our Christmas greetings. What a surprise and pleasure to hear your voice today. I’m sorry we were not home to take your call. We were at the Pescatella’s for drinks. Haven’t seen your parents yet, trust that they arrived safe and sound.
Your mince pies and cookies for 80 look delicious. Can’t imagine preparing them one handed.
Take care of your hand, just because the stitches are out doesn’t mean your wound is healed. (I know from ministering to Phil’s wounds all the time).
I enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for keeping us all posted on what you are doing.
    Love,
    Clara
